None of it is any substitute for raw design talent, though... and you'll probably have to wait 'til Hell freezes over before I get any of that! п/0~ЮЯnoОП^_ЎЏњћFGHIJKL–—клмнћїѓяычуплзгЯЫЧУПЛЗГЏЋЇЃŸ›—“މ„zuqmie]a ]a ]a ]a U]a U]a U]a U]a U]a U]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a %) ‚ ƒ w x y ˆ Ђ Р С Т ў џ ‚ƒвгњіђюъцтойебЭЩХСНЙЕБЉЅЁ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a V]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a ]a V]a п0ЯoП_ЏћGL—лм‚ x С џ ‚гњѕ№ыцсмзвЭШУНЗБЌЇЂ˜“މ№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№№гњ№п п $џџџџџџџџIK@ёџNormala "A@ђџЁ"Default Paragraph Fontаџ@ўџ џџџџ РFMicrosoft Word 6.0 Document MSWordDocє9Вq мЅe#Р п$,l,l Њ5(ь˜Tю 5 MS Sans Serif Symbol0Courier New /----G-A-M-E-S---I-N---T-E-S-T-I-N-G----\ /| ESI GGAMESINT NGGAMESINTE |\ /-------------/ | ESINT GAMESINTE GGAMESINTES | \-------------\ | Volume No.: 1 | ES ES SIN SIN |Chris M DICKSON| | Issue No.: 08 | ES INT INT |42 Arlington Rd| | Deadline date | SI STIN NTE including NTE | Middlesbrough | | for GIT no. 9 | IN IN TES train TES | T S 5 7 R E | | as for OMR 24 | TE NG EST EST | (01642)821929 | \-------------\ | STING ME TESTINGG ES STI GA | /-------------/ \| ING ES ESTINGGA SI TIN AM |/ \- E-mail to chris@dickson.demon.co.uk -/ "If she came round my house I'd be very honoured... and I'd faint. I would show her my computer, but she may not be up to that sort of thing." When in doubt, write about game shows, I suppose... Remember "Child's Play"? Sunday evening light entertainment fare on ITV in around about 1982 to 1985? Cheery-looking but confused kids would define words and phrases (without actually saying the word or phrase in question) to camera, and the footage thereof is played to two teams each consisting of a contestant and a civilian. The teams aim to guess just what the kids are talking about. You may not be entirely surprised to read that I was a child giving definitions on that show, my own unique blend of charm(?) and charisma(??) shining through to the TV producers even then. My obtuse, verbose but usually relevant definitions proved popular and so I appeared on the show semi-regularly for a series or two. Ten or eleven of my definitions survive to this day on video tape, and a handful of others did not get recorded. The above quote is one of them. Who was I describing? Not a terribly helpful clue out of context, is it? That quote was one of them selected for the subsequent spin-off "Child's Play" book, so I can tell you that I was 8 years old at the time when I said it. An idea for an all-reader game is born. I was defining "Diana, Princess of Wales". Who's dead now, as you know. Shame, really, but in my eyes Mother Theresa probably did more good for the world. I would rant about the intrusive media and the scum paparazzi but you've heard it all before. Most of the blame lies with the drunk driver, I would say, but you would have thought Di and Dodi were old enough to know wearing seat belts is a good idea. At least the two young lovers died quickly, together and all but in each other's arms. I do extend sympathies to William and Harry... and to all other kids from broken homes with two divorced, adulterous parents who suffer a similar loss. I've bought a new PC! Pentium 166 MMX, 32 MB RAM, 4.3GB hard disk drive, 15" monitor, icosatuple speed CD, Soundblaster 16 sound card, 120W speakers, 2MB video card, Windows 95 and a new green power LED because the one they put in first time didn't work. (That didn't fill me with confidence, I can tell you.) Ѓ960 the job lot including installation and warranty. In years to come this won't be too impressive, but at today's prices I was fairly pleased! It's only barely entry level nowadays, sorry to say, but at least it'll take one of the 233 MMX chips and can have 32 MB more RAM put in on the same motherboard. It was all so cheap because it was an opening offer from a new shop in town; mine is the fourth computer they ever sold. Buying from somewhere with no track record like this is playing with fire, and, indeed, it was put together by a technician who's leaving the shop soon. However all the local places were either overpriced or of worse repute and none of the mail order places in all of Micro Mart and all 1,000+ pages of Computer Shopper appealed. I don't really trust anywhere to sell me a PC, though, so I just went for a bargain. What does this mean for GIT, though? Windows 95 has a printer driver for my old 24-pin dot matrix so the whole world of TrueType fonts becomes available, albeit not particularly well reproduced. I'm getting used to the whole new system (and am using WordPad, a limited step up from the old EDIT MS-DOS command) so this issue of GIT will look even more of a dog's dinner than usual.
